Lights and Lighting Stuff

I've been professionally involved with lighting for over 10 years and I still have keen interest in the subject, in fact due to the new technologies emerging every day I'm keener than ever.

LED Lighting - Can Be Great, Can Be Rubbish

Parts of my work mean I get involved in lighting, a subject that certainly from a technical point I have a strong interest in. All aspect of lighting interest me but my keenest interest is in the technical side of lighting and new lighting technologies. When talking about new lighting technologies it is impossible to avoid the subject of LED.

LED Lighting can be amazing with super efficiency, good light output and major increases in reliability (when compared to incandescent or halogen light sources). Sadly this doesn't apply to all LED Lighting, sometimes it can be a nightmare with false performance claims, big initial outlay, poor quality, very narrow beam widths and rubbish lighting outputs.

My advice is Buyer Beware, ask the retailer lots of questions about the 'real world performance' of their LED products. If you've found a decent lighting retailer then they'll have a showroom and if you can get there in person then ask them for a demonstration, ideally in a separate room with little or no other light sources as this could effect your view of the light level and you may not be able to view the pool of light correctly.

Thus they now call these bulbs dark suckers. The dark sucker theory, according to a Bell Labs spokesperson, proves the existence of dark, that dark has mass heavier than that of light, and that dark is faster than light. ..Read On..
